The first regional “Vision of Woman” Conference was held on November 13, 2019, at the Ramada Hotel, organized by the Vision of Humanity NGO. The conference was organized in partnership with UNDP, the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights, and the Capital City of Podgorica.
The conference was opened by the Minister for Human and Minority Rights, Mehmed Zenka. Introductory remarks were delivered by Daniela Gašparikova, UNDP Resident Representative in Montenegro; Dr. Đorđe Suhih, President of the Assembly of the Capital City of Podgorica; and Ivona Dabetić Jovović, on behalf of the conference organizer, the Vision of Humanity NGO.
The Vision of Woman Conference aims to promote women’s human rights and establish strategic dialogue focused on the development and improvement of the economic, political, and social status of women in society.
The conference brought together approximately 150 participants, who had the opportunity to attend panel discussions covering some of the most relevant topics, including the role and perception of women throughout Montenegrin history, gender equality from different perspectives, women’s leadership and influence in the business environment of Montenegro and the region, feminism, and mechanisms for protecting women’s human rights.
Speakers at the first Vision of Woman Conference included successful national and regional female leaders from a wide range of fields — from politics and entrepreneurship to the creative industries — with the aim of inspiring participants and developing conclusions that could serve as a foundation for future initiatives in Montenegro and the region focused on women’s empowerment and the promotion of gender equality.
